Application requirements of trademark for the household appliance industry in Vietnam
According to Article 105, Law on Intellectual Property 2005, amended and supplemented in 2019, 2022, 2025, when registering a trademark for household appliances, Goods or services listed in an application for registration of a mark must be classified into appropriate groups in accordance with the Classification List under the Nice Agreement on International Classification of Goods and Services for mark registration, and published by the State administrative body for industrial property rights.

According to the Nice classification, household appliances are classified in scattered groups, usually in the following classes
Class 07: Machines, motors, power-operated tools (For example: blenders, juicers, mixers, vacuum cleaners, robot vacuum cleaners, small industrial washing machines…);
Class 09: Electric apparatus, electronic, control technology equipment. (For example: induction cookers, microwave ovens (with electronic programming), digitally controlled air fryers…);
Class 11: Apparatus for lighting, heating, cooking, cooling, drying, ventilating (For example: refrigerators, washing machines, clothes dryers, air conditioners, rice cookers, water heaters, gas stoves, electric fans…);
Class 21: Non-electric household and kitchen appliances (For example: pots, pans, knives, scissors, cups, thermoses, food containers…);
In addition, the household appliance industry class is also classified into additional classes (if the enterprise also does services/trade).
Class 35: Retail services, distribution, electronics supermarket;
Class 37: Installation, repair, and warranty services for household appliances.

Process of trademark for the household appliance industry in Vietnam
The applicant can choose one of two forms of filing a trademark application: submitting a paper application or submitting an application online via the National Office of Intellectual Property’s online public service portal. Specifically:
Paper application form
Conditions: Applicants can submit their application directly or send it by post to one of the receiving locations of the National Office of Intellectual Property, including:
The head office: No. 386 Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi City.
The representative office in Ho Chi Minh City: No. 31 Han Thuyen, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
The representative office in Da Nang: 3rd floor, 135 Minh Mang, Khue My Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang.
In case of submitting the application by post, the applicant must transfer the fee/charge through the postal service, and attach a copy of the money transfer receipt to the application to prove that the financial obligation has been fulfilled.
Note: The application must be sent to the correct application receiving address corresponding to the place where the fee/charge is transferred.
Online application form
Conditions: The applicant must have a digital certificate, digital signature, and a registered account on the National Office of Intellectual Property’s online application receiving system, and this account must be approved to perform industrial property registration transactions.
Note: Priority is given to online application submission.
Procedure: The applicant declares and submits the application online on the application receiving system. After completion, the system will grant a confirmation slip for online document submission. Within 01 month from the date of online submission, the applicant must go to one of the National Office of Intellectual Property’s document receiving locations during working hours to present the confirmation slip, submit paper documents (if any) and complete the fee/charge obligation.
If the application and fee are complete, the receiving officer will grant an official application number on the system;
If the application or fee is not met, the application will be rejected;
In case the applicant fails to complete the procedure properly within the above time limit, the online document will be canceled, and the system will send a notice of online document cancellation to the applicant.
