    What is the social insurance unit code?

    The code of the social insurance unit is a unique series of numbers issued to units and organizations participating in social insurance to manage the payment and payment of social insurance premiums between the participating units and the social insurance agency. Concrete:

    Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 8 of Decree 01/2021/ND-CP stipulates:

    “1. Each enterprise shall be granted a unique code called an enterprise identification number/ This identification number is also the tax identification number and the code of the enterprise’s social insurance participating unit”

    In addition, Article 5 of Decree 122/2023/ND-CP stipulates:

    “3. The code of the enterprise, the code of the branch or representative office shall be used as the code of the unit participating in social insurance.”

    Thus, the code of the social insurance unit is also the tax code of that enterprise. Each unit is only granted 1 unique unit code and used until that unit stops operating. Currently, the code of the social insurance unit is created, sent and received automatically by the national enterprise registration information system, the tax registration information system and is recorded on the enterprise registration certificate (specified in Clause 3, Article 8 of this Decree).

    Procedures for closing the code of the social insurance unit

    Step 1: Carry out procedures for reporting the reduction of employees participating in social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance

    • Processing time: 10 working days from the time of submission of the dossier. The insurance agency will complete the procedures for reporting labor reduction.

    Step 2: Close the insurance book for employees when the enterprise dissolves

    After the company reported the successful reduction of labor and fully fulfilled the obligation to pay social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance to the insurance agency. The enterprise carries out procedures for closing the book and returning the book to the employee.

    • The dossier includes:

    • Processing time: 07 working days from the date of receipt of the dossier, the agency will close the book and return the book to the company to transfer to the employee

    Some notes when carrying out procedures for closing the code of the social insurance unit

    • In the process of waiting for the settlement of the dossier book, the employer must pay the full amount of social insurance premiums to the employee. Otherwise, the process will stop, the social insurance will default to the employee still participating in social insurance at the company and the social insurance payment amount will still be updated normally. Upon completion of the dossier, the social insurance agency will deduct the payable amount by itself
    • When an employee quits at the company, within 7 days, the enterprise must submit a dossier to the social insurance agency (no later than 30 days). If the enterprise announces the reduction and closes the book later than the actual vacation time, it will be subject to interest arrears for late submission of documents according to the regulations of social insurance
