On December 3, 2024, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs issued Notification No. 6150/TB-BLĐTBXH of 2024, providing official information regarding the National Day holiday schedule in 2025 for cadres, civil servants, and employees. Details are specified as follows:
Accordingly, agencies and units to adhere to the National Day holiday schedule for 2025 should ensure the arrangement of on-call personnel as per regulations and organize work shifts appropriately to ensure continuous service delivery to the public and organizations. Special attention should be given to designating cadres and civil servants to handle unexpected tasks and emergencies that may arise during the holiday period, as per the relevant regulations.
Under Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019 stipulates:
“Public holidays
…a) Gregorian Calendar New Year Holiday: 01 day (the 1stof January of the Gregorian calendar);
…b) Lunar New Year Holidays: 05 days;
…c) Victory Day: 01 day (the 30thof April of the Gregorian calendar);
…d) International Labor Day: 01 day (the 1stof May of the Gregorian calendar);
…dd) National Day: 02 days (the 2ndof September of the Gregorian calendar and the previous or next day);
…e) Hung Kings Commemoration Day: 01 day (the 10thof the third month of the Lunar calendar).”
Accordingly, under the aforementioned regulations, employees are entitled to 2 days off for the National Day holiday, including September 2nd and one additional day immediately before or after.
For the 2025 National Day holiday, employees will have a continuous 4-day break, from Saturday, August 30, 2025, to Tuesday, September 2, 2025. This includes 2 days of the holiday and 2 regular weekly days off.
Note: In cases where the weekly rest day coincides with the National Day holiday, the employee shall be entitled to an alternate rest day (as specified in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code 2019).
Furthermore, employers are encouraged to apply the National Day holiday schedule for 2025 to employees by the regulations for cadres and civil servants.
In addition to the public holidays specified in the Labor Code, they are also entitled to one day off for their traditional New Year and one day off for the National Day of their home country.
These holiday provisions are designed to provide employees with additional time for rest, family visits, and recovery, while also protecting their rights in accordance with the law.
Under Article 98 of the Labor Code 2019 stipulates:
“Overtime pay, night work pay:
1. An employee who works overtime will be paid an amount based on the piece rate or actual salary as follows:
a) On normal days: at least 150%;
b) On weekly days off: at least 200%;
c) During public holidays, paid leave, at least 300%, not including the daily salary during the public holidays or paid leave for employees receiving daily salaries.
2. An employee who works at night will be paid an additional amount of at least 30% of the normal salary.
3. An employee who works overtime at night will be paid, in addition to the salary specified in Clause 1 and Clause 2 of this Article, an amount of at least 20% of the day work salary of a normal day, weekend, or public holiday.

Accordingly, under the above regulations, employees working on public holidays shall be compensated as follows:
Accordingly, employees working during the day on a public holiday will receive at least 400% of their regular wage.
Employees working at night on a public holiday will receive at least 490% of their regular wage.
